The Church of San Domenico, entrusted to the Dominicans in 1304, was the first cathedral in the city and has rather impressive architectural dimensions. The facade eloquently reveals the various construction and adaption stages. The central stone portal bears two telamons at the base of the pillars and medallions all around with the figures of twelve apostles, with the cross in the top centre.

The place is now a modern auditorium rich in pictorical fragments. Lower down, a hypogeous church was discovered, with frescoed pictorial cycles and underground the rooms given over to the court of inquisition can be visited, where there are clear signs of the suffering of the convicts.
